Yesterday I wrapped up the graphics and design for our cover expose on Tin. Electronics manufacturers use solder, which typically contains more than 95 percent tin, to attach and connect components. We followed this precious metal from the tin mines in Indonesia and all the way to your favorite tablet: the iPad.
Working with iSuppli and iFixit who took apart the devices and isolated all the solder points we also put together an interactive graphic. Special thanks to Thomas Meimarides and Chloe Whitaker!
