Went to ICON last weekend and now that I’m back in damp, urine drenched New York I’m not really sure why I left good smelling, breezy Providence, Rhode Island.
Big LOVE to ICON for letting me hijack the conference and MC with Nicholas Blechman. Even though no one really knew who we were or why we were on stage it was fun to use our power of the spotlight and microphone, meet all of you, and make fun of all of you. WE LEARNED SO MUCH:
Lynda Barry told us to stop acting cool and that we’re all gonna die.
Matt Groening quit his job to go to ICON.
Josh Cochran drew me naked:

A fan signed Sam Weber’s chest.

Jillian Tamaki made me feel better about not having a sketchbook.

Jon Cuneo draws this EVERY DAY

Ate my first lobster!!!

And Josh instagramed the moment:

And I learned all about all ya’lls CREATIVE PROCESS:

Some of my favorite sessions from Saturday:
10AM: APOCALYPSENOW: The future of publishing
5PM: No Photoshop?!? As told by Society of Illustrators
8PM: Unembarrassing is Good Enough and other late night deadlines
10PM: Dom & Slave: The complicated relationship between art directors and illustrators
See you guys at the next ICON in two years when we’re all animating, collaborating, and link baiting!

maybe we should go again next time?
